Blackstone doubles Houston office, plans to triple workforce

San Francisco-based Blackstone Technology Group Inc. is in the final stages of negotiating a lease to move into a new office that would double its footprint in Houston.

Blackstone provides billing management software for midstream companies as well as consulting and staffing services for a variety of different fields, including health care, energy and professional services. Here in Houston, a big focus for its practice is on the midstream energy sector, said Chuck Costello, sales representative in the Houston region.

Business has been strong in Houston, the company said. Because of that, Blackstone has outgrown its current space and plans to relocate to its new location, a 3,000-square-foot suite in Galleria Tower 2, in June.

Blackstone also plans to triple its local team in the Houston market to around 15 in-office employees and an additional 10 to 15 contractors in the client field by year-end.

“We’re trying to flesh out our subject matter experts in the Houston location, flesh out the development team and bring on IT project managers,” Costello told the HBJ.

One of the sweet spots for Blackstone in Houston is the ever-present demand for tech talent in almost every industry. The energy industry’s recent spate of job cuts provide a ripe talent pool, said Bryant Miller, a sales director on the staffing side.

Typically, Blackstone places employees in jobs that focus on IT, everything from server technicians, project and program managers, desktop support and other roles, he added.
